Alexander the Great Receiving Amun-Ra's Semen
This relief from Thebes (late 4th c. BC) shows Alexander the Great presenting offerings to Amun-Ra as Kamutef, Bull of His Mother—an epithet expressing the god’s power to regenerate himself through the divine mother. His erect phallus and the vessel beneath him indicate the collection of semen, a symbol of creative potency. Alexander’s worship links his kingship to divine sonship and Egyptian ideas of cosmic renewal.
