Calcite Perfume Vessel with Nile Gods
This alabaster vessel (c. 1323 BC) from Tutankhamun’s tomb in Thebes features the Nile gods Hapi flanking a central jar, symbolizing the unification of Upper and Lower Egypt. Inscriptions identify the king and his queen, while a vulture atop the jar signifies divine protection. It originally contained sacred perfumes used in royal rituals, underscoring the vessel's ceremonial importance in ancient Egyptian culture.
