Coptic Icon
This Coptic icon (6th-8th cc.) portrays a saint, possibly Christ, in a stylized frontal view with large, solemn eyes. The symmetrical face, framed by a crown or headband, reflects a fusion of Roman, Pharaonic, and Byzantine traditions central to Coptic devotional art. Designed to foster spiritual presence, such icons were used in churches and private worship.
