Pskov Kremlin
Pskov Kremlin, known locally as the Krom , rises where the Velikaya and Pskova rivers meet, a setting that made it both a shield and a seat of authority on Russia’s western frontier. Founded in the 9th c. and strengthened with stone walls and towers in the 15th c., it embodies the hard-earned independence of medieval Pskov through centuries of siege and trade. At its core stands Trinity Cathedral, rebuilt in 1699, linking the fortress’s military purpose to the city’s spiritual memory and civic identity.
