The Above-the-Gate Church of the Intercession at the Novodevichy Convent (1683–85) stands above the main entrance. Designed in the Moscow Baroque style, it features ornate white stone décor, arched windows, and a single dome. Dedicated to the Intercession of the Theotokos, it symbolized protection over the convent. The church served as a key spiritual and defensive structure, reflecting the convent’s role as both a religious center and a fortified complex in Moscow’s history.
