Mesolithic Tools from Daugava River
These Mesolithic tools (7th–5th millennia BC) were recovered from the bed of the Daugava River during gravel extraction. Antler hoes, an axe, and a hammer served for tilling soft soil, woodworking, and hide processing, while a multi-barbed bone harpoon aided spearfishing. Together they trace a shift from highly mobile hunters to more semi-settled riverine communities in the Baltic after the last Ice Age.
