Baroque Marionette Theater
This 18th-c. puppet stage of Palazzo dell’Isola Madre, with its ornate architecture, velvet curtains, and painted celestial skies, reflects the refinement of aristocratic leisure. Once part of the Borromeo family’s entertainment culture, it housed performances of classical myths and courtly comedies. The lifelike mannequins and detailed scenery echo the grandeur of full-scale theaters in miniature form.
