Porte DoréeGilles Le Breton
This ceremonial gate (1528–30) was designed under François I, marking the Renaissance transformation of Fontainebleau. Its rusticated arch and classical orders reveal Italian influence, while its gilded ceiling mosaics once dazzled visitors. As the Golden Gate, it embodied royal prestige and the king’s ambitions for a new French Renaissance palace.
