Stone Tomb Guardian Statues
Stone statues of civil officials, known as muninseok, traditionally guarded the tombs of significant Korean figures. Depicted in formal attire and holding an official’s tablet, these statues were part of a broader funerary tradition that included statues of military officers in armor, memorial stones, and stone structures like incense burner stands and altars.
