Rome Personified
This 6th c. mosaic of a figure personifying Rome, as suggested by the Greek inscription ΡΩΜΗΣ (ROMIS), is wearing the attire of rulers or deities from late antiquity and the Byzantine era. Such mosaics are typical in Byzantine sites, reflecting Madaba's rich mosaic heritage and its historical significance as a center of artistic expression.
