Jesus Boat
This wooden hull (1st c.) shows the remains of an 8.3-meter fishing boat with a flat bottom and reinforced ribs. Recovered from Sea of Galilee mud during a drought, it matches craft used by fishermen in Jesus’s era, giving rise to its nickname Jesus Boat . Its stabilization in a polyurethane shell and wax demonstrates current methods for conserving waterlogged wood.
