K’inich Ajaw
This winged figure (600–900) represents K’inich Ajaw, the radiant Maya sun god. Carved in limestone, his fierce expression and solar attributes affirm his role as a source of divine power. Such reliefs reinforced royal authority by linking rulers to celestial forces that governed time, warfare, and rebirth.
