Greater Nicoya Female Ceramic Vessel
This polychrome ceramic figure (500–1350) likely served as a ritual vessel linked to fertility. The stylized female form, marked by a rounded belly, vivid red and cream body paint, and serpent-like headdress, embodies themes of birth and regeneration. Such objects were used in shamanic rites across ancient Costa Rica and Nicaragua to invoke ancestral and natural forces.
