Tairona Gold Museum
Tairona Gold Museum, set in Santa Marta’s 16th c. Casa de la Aduana, traces the Tairona peoples who flourished in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta from c. 900–1600. Its ornaments and vessels treat gold not as wealth but as sacred speech: frogs, birds, and shifting human forms invoke fertility, rank, and spiritual flight between earthly and divine realms. In a port long shaped by conquest and trade, the museum stands as a clear link to enduring Indigenous memory.
