Eva, St John and SynagogaGuy Charlier

268
This west-portal ensemble combines Eva as reimagined by Guy Charlier (1991–92), with the replicas of the 13th c. Synagoga and Evangelist John preserved inside. Synagoga is blindfolded with broken staff, symbolizing Judaism’s perceived eclipse in medieval Christian theology. St John stands as the evangelist of revealed truth. Their juxtaposition with a contemporary sculpture reframes the portal as a dialogue between historical theology and modern perspectives on faith.
