Swimming Pool
Surrounded by dense tropical vegetation, this pool offered Hemingway a rare escape into leisure during the 1950s. It was famously used by his fourth wife, Mary Welsh, and hosted many of the couple’s guests. Though now dry, the pool symbolizes the writer’s attempt to balance his turbulent inner life with moments of calm, beauty, and social ease.
